Alford Manor House was a dream venue for our wedding. It is beautiful with the house and walled garden which was ideal for lawn games and drinks with our family and friends. We could design the wedding exactly to our taste and we cannot thank the staff enough especially Margaret for all the support in organising and creating our special day. We could not have asked for more and highly recommend to anyone wanting a classy country wedding!
Great little place love going back in time seeing how people lived and worked volunteer Kevin knew all his stuff about every machine
Had a lovely piece of chocolate cake that was very moist and was homemade. The pot of tea was lovely too. The staff were very friendly and helpful and assisted with getting the pushchair up and down a few steps. Garden is stunning would highly recommend.
Sadly this is one of these gems you could easily pass by despite its large main road frontage. Until we’d booked the premises following a funeral service nearby, we’d have passed it by too.So, in future if you are passing through Alford, don’t just head for the five-siled windmill, or the market but take a detour here.
Wonderfully laid out and maintained gardens; knowledgeable museum guides (only £1 adult entry!); superb selection of food; friendly and honest non-corporate service with smiles; historic house and wooded walk leading to a WW1 Trench reconstruction; sit out in the sun on the patio. I could go on. You really must stop and visit.
Went there for a walk around, got really into the history of the place. You get lost in your mind, reliving how it must have been to have lived in those times. Will be going back with the family.
I have been here before, and as a friend was staying we visited this week. The displays of WW1 were as always evocative and well documented. Beautiful house and wonderful gardens. I particularly like the fruit & veg plots outside and hopefully, this produce is used in the kitchens. Loved that the local primary school had a plot and sowed wild flowers, which produced an abundant show. We had our lunch in the cafe,and it was wonderful. Brie and grapes in granary (large) roll, with salad, coleslaw and crisps. Well worth it and beautifully presented. Glass of wine to go with. Well done, everyone, from the warm welcome we had to our lovely lunch. Oh! Don’t forget to visit the Museum of Rural Life, housed at the back. Full of memories.
We did not know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. This house has been presented well with lots of information around to read and learn. They also have barns and some old farm machinery to see. There is a tea room which is also a good place for refreshments. All run by volunteers and only a modest admission charge. Visit recommend.
We visited Alford on a holiday to Skegness, we saw the Manor House and decided to visit, the parking was free we thought the entry price was very reasonable and the inside was interesting to view over around 3 floor’s we could appreciate the amount of renovation work that has gone into this Manor House to save it as it was almost derelict and it is obviously well loved as all the workers there are volunteers, there are various exhibits through the ages to view in all the rooms, on ground floor was a nice looking Cafe selling lunches etc. the gardens where well tended with various fruit trees and vegetables being grown, in with the price of the entrance free was the outside museum of country life you could, if you wanted, to just visit this attraction for just £1.00. We really enjoyed this visit and the town of Alford
I took a group of 17 adults to picnic and to have an introductory talk about the manor house. The staff very kindly allowed us to picnic in their wedding marquee because it was raining. We had a superb introductory talk and a very interesting look around the house and the heritage centre. Helpful and knowledgeable staff who made our visit special. We will return!
Thank you for hosting our Hunts Coaches staff Christmas party. Everyone was so helpful and the catering was lovely. Would definitely recommend this venue.
